Compare Inconel 625 and Inconel 600 fittings: Choose the fittings that best suit your needs

The choice between Inconel 600 and Inconel 625 fittings depends entirely on your specific environment and mechanical requirements. Inconel 625 offers superior corrosion resistance, strength, and weldability, while Inconel 600 is more economical and suitable for applications with less corrosive environments and higher nickel content requirements.

What are the standard pipe materials for Inconel 600?

These pipe materials conform to ASTM B167, B829, and B517 standards. Sizes vary depending on the ASTM, ASME, and API standards. Seamless Inconel 600 pipes range in diameter from 4mm to 219mm, while welded and arc-welded pipes range in diameter from 5mm to 1219.2mm, with wall thicknesses ranging from 0.5mm to 20mm.

When to Choose Which Material

If your application requires the following properties, choose Inconel 625 fittings:

Highly Corrosive Environments: Excellent resistance to a variety of acids, salt water, pitting, and crevice corrosion, making it ideal for marine and chemical processing applications.

High Strength and Toughness: Suitable for applications requiring high creep rupture strength, fatigue resistance, and durability under extreme mechanical stress, such as aerospace engine components.

Ease of Machining: You need a material that can be easily welded without special post-weld heat treatment.

If your application requires the following properties, choose Inconel 600 fittings:

Cost-Effectiveness: Performance requirements can be met at a lower cost for operating environments that are not extremely harsh.

Specific Chemical Resistance: Good resistance to high-temperature oxidation, carburizing, and alkaline solutions, commonly found in heat treatment furnaces and certain petrochemical applications.

High-Purity Water Environments: Applications in certain nuclear power plant components where high nickel content and resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking (after stress relief) are crucial.
