A Complete Guide to Inconel 625 Alloy Plate

The production process of Inconel 625 alloy plate is quite complex. It contains a large amount of nickel, accounting for about 58% of the total alloy content. The high nickel content is essential for the corrosion resistance of the alloy, but in order to combine high corrosion resistance with high strength, other elements must be added to the alloy. In this case, chromium needs to be added to improve the corrosion resistance of the alloy. The ideal combination of nickel and chromium gives it excellent corrosion resistance, especially to oxidants.

Is Inconel 625 alloy plate magnetic?

Inconel 625 plate is a non-magnetic, corrosion-resistant and oxidation-resistant nickel-chromium alloy. The high strength of Inconel 625 alloy plate comes from its strengthening combination of molybdenum and niobium added to the nickel-chromium matrix.

Advantages of Inconel 625 Plates

Inconel 625 plate is a nickel-based high-temperature alloy that has applications in the aerospace and chemical processing industries. The alloy is known for its exceptional strength, resistance to high stresses, resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion, and high melting point. The addition of molybdenum to the nickel-chromium alloy of Inconel 625 greatly improves the structural durability of the alloy.

Features of Inconel 625 Plates

Alloy 625 plate is made from a nickel-chromium-iron mixture that is heat treated by a precipitation hardening process. The alloy resists oxidation, scaling, and corrosion cracking in both saltwater and freshwater as well as alkaline chemicals. It has high strength and hardness, and has excellent ductility at temperatures up to 550°F (about 254°C). Its excellent heat resistance makes it ideal for applications such as shipbuilding and aerospace. Power generation and other industrial applications require high strength at high temperatures. Alloy 625 plate is also used to make surgical instruments that must be sterilized using an autoclave.
