Forging Inconel 718 typically involves heating it to 2050ºF (1120ºC), resulting in finished products that resist environmental corrosion superbly, even when exposed to oxygen and seawater for long periods.

Machining Inconel 718 is straightforward in both annealed and age-hardened conditions. The age-hardened state produces a superior surface finish, while the annealed condition contributes to longer tool life. Welding Inconel 718 is possible in both aged and annealed states, though welding an age-hardened material may cause a softened heat-affected zone.

Inconel 718 has a broad range of applications. It's used in cars, jet engines, fuel lines, 3D printing and die casting. This superalloy is also commonly used in nuclear fuel parts, high-temperature bolts, fasteners, buckets, and spacers.
